2015 Lacrosse Season

2015 Lacrosse Season

For the past 12 years, the Tantramar Marsh Hawks Lacrosse Association has been promoting and teaching the high tempo, fast-paced game of lacrosse to kids in the Sackville and surrounding areas.  With program levels ranging from Mini-Tykes (ages 5-6) up to Midget (ages 15-16), Marsh Hawks Lacrosse has something to offer for children of all ages.  Parents love the short season; starting a couple of weeks after the regular hockey season ends and concluding at the end of June.  Games and practices are held during the week, which leaves weekends free except in the case of tournaments.  Last year, the pee wee team attended a tournament in Saint John and one in Moncton.

Although some people may think of lacrosse as a very physical game, it is actually a game that relies more on strategy than the physical aspect.  As the attached study from the Public Health Agency of Canada indicates, lacrosse accounts for less than 1% of injuries related to team sports, with hockey being number 1 on the list at 24.3%.

From Wayne Gretzky to John Tavares, Brendan Shanahan to Steven Stamkos, Canadian NHL’ers recommend playing lacrosse in the summer to have fun and improve hockey skills.

How does lacrosse benefit hockey players?
